The Inman Family Passes the Torch to the Ackerson Family

After 54 years of the Inman family owning Wayne’s Automotive in Morehead City, they have passed this family-run business to a new family. The reputation that has been established of quality, consistency, and loyalty will continue as the Ackersons, who have previously owned a family shop in Smithfield, NC for over 14 years, will carry on this business in the same spirit for years to come.

The Inmans have relocated their family to the foothills of NC and have ventured into other businesses. They have been transitioning back and forth for the last 6 years until the right family came forth. They started to fervently pray when they decided to move onto new ventures, that the family to take over the shop would have the same heart and compassion for the community. They did not want a franchise business to take over, because they felt they would take advantage of their customers and faithful staff and not give them the care and services they really needed.

Meeting the Ackersons the first time, Shane and Tara knew this was a perfect fit—so many similarities between the two families. A lifelong friendship has already started, and we cannot wait to see what our futures hold.

Beginning in 2025, some more new faces are greeting those who walk through the doors to get their cars serviced. The staff and technicians that have been a part of Wayne’s for many years will help the Ackerson family learn the customers and establish a relationship with them. The Inmans could not be more blessed to have The Lord orchestrate this transition so beautifully. This has truly been answered prayers for both families!

Thank you, Carteret County and surrounding areas, for the 54 years of dedication and loyalty you have blessed Wayne and then Shane and Tara with. This weighs heavy on our hearts of the many years of memories with each customer. You all are, and will always be, family to us. We are now establishing a new family on our dairy farm in Dobson. We feel you will welcome Jason and Valerie and their sons with the same affection you have shown us these many years.
